This article explains how admins can manage template link types in the Popl dashboard. Link types allow flexibility in how information appears on team members’ digital business cards.

Only admins can configure these settings within templates.

Popl templates support two types of links:

  • Common Links: The same link is shared across all team members.

  • Unique Links: A distinct link value for each team member.

Common links

Common links are identical for all members assigned to a template. These are ideal for shared team details such as:

  • Office addresses

  • General company phone numbers

  • Company social media profiles (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)

Adding a common link ensures consistent branding and information for all team members.

Unique links

Unique links allow individual members to have personalized links for their digital business cards, such as:

  • Personal phone numbers

  • Individual email addresses

  • Personal LinkedIn or social media profiles

Admins can control whether members are allowed to edit their unique links themselves.

Adding a unique link to a template

Follow these steps to add a unique link to a template:

  1. Open your desired template in the Popl dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Links > + Add Link.

  3. Choose the type of link you’d like to add.

  4. Select Unique Link.

  5. Continue editing the link details.

From here, you can choose to:

  • Allow team members to edit their unique link directly in their account.

  • Upload unique values for each member via a CSV file.

  • Enter unique values manually for each member.

Tip: Popl uses member email addresses to match unique link values, so always ensure emails are accurate in your CSV file. You don’t need to create a new CSV each time - you can reuse the same file and map only the fields you need.

When you’ve finished setting up your unique link, click Update to save your changes.

Note: Unique links left blank will not appear on a member’s card until a value is added.

Converting common links to unique links

If you’ve created a template from an existing card, all links will default to common links. To make them unique for each member:

  1. Go to Templates > Links.

  2. Click the link you want to convert.

  3. Click Unique Link.

After converting:

  • Edit unique values for each member directly.

  • Allow members to edit their own unique link information if desired.

Important: Once a common link is converted to a unique link, this change cannot be undone.

Common issue: If unique links aren’t showing on members’ cards, confirm that values have been entered for each member or that members have access to edit their own unique links.
