Using the Leads Page

Learn how to view, filter, edit, add, and export leads on the Popl Leads page, including custom columns, inline editing, team default views, and sync status.

Overview

Required Subscription: Event Lead Capture or Digital Business Card plan

The Leads page is where every lead your team captures in Popl lives. It uses a table layout, similar to a spreadsheet, so you can choose which fields appear as columns, filter on any field, and edit lead data directly in the list.

It also shows whether each lead has synced to your CRM, which makes it easier to reconcile your leads after an event.

How Leads Are Created

A lead is created automatically whenever someone connects with you or your team. The table below shows each method.

Method

How the Lead Is Created

Digital business card share

Someone opens your card through the URL, QR code, or NFC accessory and completes your Lead Capture Form

Paper business card

Scanned with the Business Card Scanner in the mobile app

Digital business card file

A PDF or image uploaded to the Universal Digital Card Scanner

Event badge

Scanned with the Badge Scanner

Popl-to-Popl

Created automatically when two Popl users connect

CSV import

Uploaded in bulk from the dashboard

Manual entry

Added individually from the dashboard

Opening the Leads Page

On the dashboard:

  1. Log in to the Popl dashboard.

  2. Click Leads in the left navigation panel.

In the mobile app:

  1. Open the Popl app.

  2. Tap Leads in the bottom menu.

Who can see which Leads

What you see on the Leads page depends on your role.

Role

What You Can See

Full Team Admin

All leads captured by everyone on the team

Subteam Admin

All leads captured by members of your subteam

Member

Only your own leads, with limited filter options

Customizing your Columns

You can choose which lead fields appear as columns and arrange them in the order that works best for you. Any field can become a column, including custom fields, qualifiers, enrichment data, tags, lead owner, Event Flow, and sync status.

To choose your columns:

  1. On the Leads page, click Columns.

  2. Turn on the fields you want to see and turn off the ones you don't.

  3. Drag the fields into the order you want.

Saving a Team Default View

Only admins can save a team default view. Once saved, your column selection and order become the default layout for everyone on the team, so all users work from the same view after an event.

  1. Set up your columns the way you want them.

  2. Click Save as team default.

Filtering your Leads

You can filter the Leads page on any lead field. Click the Filter icon at the top of the page, choose a field, pick an operator, and set your value. The list updates to show only matching leads, and you can combine multiple filters to narrow your results further.

The operators you can choose from, such as Contains, Is Any Of, or Is Set, depend on the type of field you are filtering. For a full breakdown of each operator, see Understanding Filter Operators for Leads, Sync, and Follow-Up.

Understanding Sync Status

Each lead's sync status appears as an icon in the sync and export column. The icon tells you what has happened to that lead with your connected CRM, so you can spot problems without leaving the Leads page.

Icon Shows

What It Means

What to Do

Synced = Integration logo (i.e., HubSpot, Salesforce)

The lead was sent to your CRM successfully

No action needed

Sync failed = Integration logo with red exclamation point

The lead was sent to your CRM, but the sync did not complete

Click the integration icon to open the sync log, then use Debug with AI to see a plain-language explanation of what went wrong

Blocked = Gray circle slash

The lead did not match any of the Dynamic Lead Sync rules in its Event Flow, so it was intentionally kept out of your CRM

Review your sync rules in the Event Flow's Sync step if the lead should have synced

No icon

The lead has not been synced or exported yet

Export the lead or confirm your integration is connected

Required Field Warnings

If your Event Flow uses Completed Leads, a warning indicator appears on any lead that is missing a required field.

Fill in the missing information to mark the lead as complete.

Adding Leads

You can add leads from the Leads page in three ways. The table below explains when to use each one.

Option

Best For

Create from Enrichment

Adding a lead when you only know their name and company, and want Popl to fill in the rest

Create from Scratch

Adding a lead when you already have their details and want to enter them yourself

Import Lead List

Adding many leads at once from a CSV file

Create from Enrichment

  1. On the Leads page, click Create Lead.

  2. Select Create from Enrichment.

  3. Choose the Lead Owner and who the lead Connected With.

  4. Enter the lead's name and company. Popl enriches the lead with additional details such as title and company information.

  5. Review the enriched details and adjust any fields if needed.

  6. Click Create Lead.

Create from Scratch

  1. On the Leads page, click Create Lead.

  2. Select Create from Scratch.

  3. Choose the Lead Owner and who the lead Connected With.

  4. Fill in the default fields and any custom fields you want to include.

  5. Click Create Lead.

Import Lead List

  1. On the Leads page, click Create Lead.

  2. Select Import Lead List.

  3. Upload your file. We recommend downloading the CSV Template first so your columns are formatted correctly.

  4. Match each column in your file to a Popl lead field.

  5. Choose where the imported leads should sync. If you assign the leads to an Event Flow, Popl automatically includes that Event Flow's sync integrations.

  6. Click Import Leads.

For a full walkthrough, see List Enrichment.
