Manage your Popl Leads or Contacts through our mobile Popl app or desktop dashboard.

Overview

Required Subscriptions: Exporting leads is available only on Pro+ and Teams plans, while creating and importing leads is supported for all Popl users.

Popl Leads (or Contacts) are collected through various methods like sharing digital business cards, scanning, manual entry, or CSV import. Users can view, edit, filter, and organize leads in the dashboard, with advanced tools like tagging, exporting, and bulk actions available for Pro+ and Teams plans.

This ensures seamless follow-up and streamlined lead management across individuals and teams.


Popl Leads (Contacts)

Popl Leads and Popl Contacts are interchangeable terms. If you are on an individual plan (Free or Pro), you will see Contacts. If you are on a Teams plan, you will see Leads.

Lead Capture

A Lead or Contact in Popl can be created in several ways, depending on how you share your digital business card and capture a lead.

Sharing your Digital Business Card

A lead or contact is automatically created when:

You or a team member shares your Popl digital business card via:

Paper Business Card – Scan using the Business Card Scanner

Digital Business Card – Upload PDFs or images via the Universal Digital Card Scanner

Event Badge – Scan badges using the Event Badge Scanner

Popl-to-Popl – Leads are automatically created when two Popl users connect

CSV Import – Bulk upload leads through the dashboard

Manual Entry – Add individual leads directly in the dashboard


Viewing Your Leads

As an individual user or Teams member, you are only able to view your leads or contacts.

As a Teams admin, you can view all leads made by the team.

To view and manage leads or contacts:

  1. Access the Popl Dashboard

  2. Click Leads or Contacts on the far-left navigation panel

  1. Access the mobile Popl App

  2. Tap the Leads or Contacts icon on the bottom menu

Inside the Leads Tab

Each lead or contact entry provides:

Contact info collected at the point of interaction

AI-enhanced data (like company info, title, industry, etc.)

Tags

Who the lead connected with

Lead type (e.g., QR scan, badge, manual)

CRM syncs

Connection date

Access this information by clicking on the lead or contact from the dashboard or tapping it in the mobile Popl App.


Export Leads

You can export your leads or contacts by CSV or a CRM integration on your Popl dashboard only.

Note: Exporting leads is available only on Pro+ and Teams plans.

How to:

1. Navigate to your leads page.

2. Select the leads you would like to export.

3. Click on Export in the top right of the page.

4. Then select whether to export your leads as a CSV file or to your integrated CRM.

Keep in mind: To export leads to your CRM, you must first have your integration connected. Once configured, your CRM will appear in the dropdown, and you can manually export leads.


Import Leads

You may want to import leads into Popl to keep all of your previous and new leads in one place. You can do this in two ways: CSV Import or Manual Entry.

Note: All Popl users can import leads or contacts.

CSV Import: Add Multiple Leads at Once

Need to upload a list of leads quickly? The CSV import option lets you bring in multiple contacts with just a few clicks.

How to:

1. Go to the Leads tab in your Popl dashboard

2. Click + Add Leads

3. Select Import via CSV

4. Upload your CSV file

  • Download the CSV Template (Highly Recommended)
    This ensures your file is formatted correctly and all data maps smoothly.

  • Or, upload your own CSV file

5. Map Your Fields

You'll be prompted to match your CSV columns to Popl’s lead fields:

  • First Name β†’ βœ”οΈ

  • Email β†’ βœ”οΈ

  • Company β†’ βœ”οΈ

  • Etc...

Take a moment to double-check these - accurate mapping ensures clean, usable data!

6. Final Step: Import!

Click Import Leads and watch your contacts flow into the dashboard.
You’re now ready to manage, tag, and sync your new leads πŸš€

Manual Entry Import: Create a Single Lead

Need to quickly add one contact? Use the manual entry option to create a single new lead in just a few steps.

How to:

1. Go to the Leads tab in your Popl dashboard

2. Click + Add Leads

3. Select Create New Lead

Popl Teams Only

  • Choose the Lead Owner

  • Click Assign to set who the lead Connected With

4. Enter Lead Info

You can now:

  • Fill in the default lead fields

  • Add custom fields

  • Or import from an existing template (Teams only)

5. Final Step

Click Create Lead
Your new contact will now appear on the Leads page!


Create Test Leads

Use test leads to explore lead fields, exporting, and assigningβ€”without using real data.

How to:

1. Click + Add Leads

2. Select Create New Lead

3. Click Autofill Test Lead

Click Autofill Test Lead again to generate new test info until you're happy with the sample fields.

4. Final Step

Click Create Lead
You’ll now see your test lead listed on the Leads page!


Edit Your Leads

Each lead entry in Popl is fully customizable, so you can keep your lead data clean, organized, and up to date.

What You Can Do with a Lead

For any lead, you can:

Edit their information

Save as a contact in your phone's address book

Send an email directly from the dashboard

Add tags for easy filtering and organization

Reassign the lead to another team member (Teams only)

How to edit a lead:

1. Click into the lead from the Leads page

2. Select Edit

3. Make your updates

4. Click Update to save your changes


Filtering Your Leads

Admins can view all leads, while team members only see their own with limited filter options.

Note: Only admins can access leads for other members. Your members will only have access to their own leads with limited options for filtering.

Available Filters

Use the filters at the top of the Leads tab to sort by:

Subteams – Filter by specific groups or teams within your organization

Members – View leads captured by individual users

Campaigns – Group of leads tied to a specific outreach or event

Tags – Custom labels added to organize and segment leads

Export Status – Shows whether a lead has been exported or not

Lead Type – How the lead was added (e.g., scanned card, Popl link, CSV upload)

Engagement Level – Whether a lead connected with one or multiple team members

Date Range – Filter by when the lead was collected

This makes it easy to organize and analyze your data quickly 🧹


Bulk Actions

Need to manage multiple leads at once? Popl makes it easy with bulk actions - saving you time and keeping your workflow efficient.

Bulk actions appear when you click Select all on the Leads tab. A black action bar will appear at the bottom of the screen with the following options:

Available Bulk Actions

Add to Campaign – Assign selected leads to a specific Popl campaign for targeted messaging

Add Tag – Apply a custom tag to organize and filter selected leads

Remove Tag – Remove existing tags from selected leads in one click

Reassign – Transfer selected leads to another team member for follow-up

Send Email – Email all selected leads at once for outreach or updates

Export – Download selected leads as a CSV file or send them to a connected CRM (like Salesforce or HubSpot)
